It specialises in diverse developmental services ranging from disaster risk management, land administration, corporate governance, environmental management, policy and corporate governance services. It prides itself for being a wholesale, and ostensibly a one-stop centre on the provision of all development service needed by both and public and private (corporate) sectors inclusive of communities in addressing service delivery and business growth aspirations.

The company is 100% black owned and was established in 2022 with a defined agenda of becoming a thought and practice leader in the fields of development, disaster risk management and corporate governance applying various theoretical constructs to provide targeted and fit for purpose solutions in response to individual clients’ needs. Dr Mmaphaka Ephraim Tau, the founder of Res4Dev Institute (Pty) Ltd, is an epitome of resilience for development when looked at from his personal and pedagogical journey. He has always been interested in finding lasting development solutions to the problems facing humanity in a developmentally sustainable way.

To ensure a targeted pursuit of this vision, he decided to pursue his studies in four (4) fields which are mutually inclusive and directed at solving the development challenges he has always been interested in notably: Development Studies, Education, Disaster Risk Management and Corporate Governance. This is because he firmly believed that the ability to solve problems affecting humanity requires that you understand the development objectives and approaches of various nations, grasps the education systems and practices being applied and equip yourself with the education techniques you needs to reinforce development knowledge and practices. Most importantly also, he sought to understand development risks and causes of development failures affecting all nations by studying in the field of disaster risk management.

Based on all the aforesaid, the embraced the importance of corporate governance in weaving all the above into a developmental tapestry whose outcomes will be developmental sustainability. To this end, Dr Tau studied in the fields of humanities specialising in Development Studies on which he obtained a Master’s Degree in 2003, then pursued the field of Disaster Risk Management on which he obtained a Master’s Degree and a Philosophy Doctorate in 2008 and 2014 respectively.

During 2019, Dr Tau enrolled for a Diploma in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance which he is due to complete. In terms of his occupational journey and aligned to his academic profile, Dr Tau worked in the following areas: land tenure reform and land administration, community forestry development, disaster management education, training, public awareness and research, forestry management and beneficiation processes, land use and soil management, agricultural climate change and disaster management, water use and irrigation development, head of the South African National Disaster Management Centre responsible for the overall disaster management programme in South Africa.

Dr Tau has also performance collaborative roles with several institutions of higher learning such as the University of the Free State (as an Advisory Board Member for DiMTEC 2019 to date), Southern Business School (as a part time lecturer in 2010), Nelson Mandel University (as a Research Associate 2017 - 2020)
